Had a quick look at your schematics.

Using the Metro steering arms will not just affect the Ackerman angle it will also move the steering pivots backwards and inwards.

This movement is very likely to cause bump steer with the original rack length and position.

Thanks. You're quite ll right. But the rack is not yet fixed. I am thinking about making an adjustable rack held to get the best position possible.

By the way: is it the best way to have the rack inline with the steering arms?

But about the angle, with metro arm the pin position goes back and out not in.

Whether they go out or in the fact that they move from their original positions at all will cause problems.

As regards the rack positioning it should be in line with the ends of the steering arms when viewed from above but the height of the rack relative to the steering arms when viewed from the front is a whole new can of worms. It depends on so many factors and if you fit the Metro steering arms you might find that the rack itself is the wrong length between ithe inner ball joints.

These diagrams, from Alan Staniforths Race and Rally Car Source Book, show 3 methods of working out where the inner and outer steering rack balljoints should be to avoid bump steer. I've highlighted the ball joints on the pictures.

Thats good, thanks!
I can position the rack anywhere, so I will experiment a bit with it.

Thanks all for the good-hearted words on our job. Though it looks better on the pictures than in reality  .

The wheels are some kind of intresting Cosmic-made items. 6x10. Very vide offset.
