Post Libra gearbox rod change boss on gearbox is loose
I have trawled the net to find pictures and availability of the boss which is mounted to the output gear selector and can't find anything. Mine is worn the pin/bolt is welded in and there is a lot of play. I am going to try and grind the weld off and hopefully reveal the pin/bolt so I can knock it out or at worst drill it out. Then I can asses the state of it and decide what needs to be done to rectify it.

Forgot to say it's a rod change, not cable.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Not got a Libra so not 100% on what you are referring to but my MG ZR has a PG1 box with rod change and it's VERY similar to the Mini system. They are known for the pin rearing in the hole on a yoke at the gearbox end (mine had) and a repair kit is easy to source.

ebay item 220779900900 is one example and shows a picture of the linkage that might look familiar to you.

Or I could talking complete rubbish - it's happened before.

Sorry it's not as you suggested as the engine layout is in the rear.
Thanks for your reply though.

The part you need looks like it has been made by gtm to convert the pg1 gearbox from cable operation to rod as pg1 gearbox in mgf are cable operated have a look mgf gearchange on google images if you can get a good mgf one you could cut the worn tube off yours and weld the mgf tube section to to your gtm part this maybe less worn than trying to make a new one

Thanks for that!
The pin looks like it's been welded in, never straight forward. I need to get it off first before I decide which way to go. I'm thinking of making a boss with a clamping mechanism to the shaft. I think probably the hole in the shaft is elongated. Until I remove it who knows!
Whatever I do it's going to improve it!
