Re: Marty's Coupe
Top work
i see you have a couple of rear diagonals going back on your roll cage, will these pass under the bodywork or are you going to have to go through the rear window?

Re: Marty's Coupe
I think it should go through the rear fibreglass bulk head. I'll have to cut it a bit, but wthat is an area to be looked at for sure. The original GTM lower arms for the rear. What bushes do people use in them, same standar Mini ones on all three pivots?

Re: Marty's Coupe
You need to remove all the rubber you can from the rear end or you will find the car steering itself all over the road.

Re: Marty's Coupe
Been doing my cage today, the backstays will pass under the bodywork if you move the main hoop forward a few inches. Still managed 40 degree angle on the backstays and joined the main hoop just on the start of the bend, for taller people (main hoop closer to bulkhead ) you should still be able to have 30 degrees (min in blue book) and join the main hoop just below the bend ( blue book states as close to out side of the bend as poss ). Will post some pics later this week and some of a rally coupe I used to co-drive in.

Re: Marty's Coupe
I knew there must be somthing that would be close to working and being legal in the blue book, as i knew you could move the tube down to the bottom of the bend, i think one version interpetation of the rules was no more than 6 inches down from the top of the roll bar, just look at the lotus elise when they are racing i dont remeber seeing any reaward diagonals on them but one forward one to the bottom of the passenger footwell. Gives me hope for when i get around to sorting my full cage out

Re: Marty's Coupe
Cages in Elises may have a rollbar certificate i.e. the cages have been certified by the manufacturer / designer to meet set criteria. In this case they do not necessarily need to look like the 'standard' blue book roll bars. It would be very difficult (expensive) to have a one-off rollbar certified....

Re: Marty's Coupe
Brief update, After suffering from cash flow problems and a change of garage I have again been able to turn my attention to the project. Chassis was shot blasted, Zinc primed and powder coated last week so now begins the job of putting it back together. Spent Sunday morning reattaching the front subframe, hope to get the rear on later in the week so it's a rolling chassis to tinker with. As you can see from the photos i've decided to go for a very unique colour..............
