Post My Coupe Story... There won't be a dry eye in the house!
Hi all! Long time lurker, seldom poster here! :)

My brief story: I’ve owned a GTM Coupe (white, 13” 1986-ish build on a Q plate) since 1993, having wanted one since seeing my old school mate’s dad’s Cox GTM (Yellow F-reg. iirc) when he used it as his daily transport when we were in sixth-form. Quite a few jealous eyes about, I can tell you!
Anyhoo, bought mine as soon as I could afford one but was never happy with the overall quality of the finish, although the car was generally sound and in good condition. Decided on a rebuild approach, which is probably where I went wrong… 15 years later, the chassis and subframes in rolling form are stored in my parent’s garage and up until recently, all the bodywork, screens etc were stored in their barn (they have a small-holding). As usual, circumstances changed during the last decade, so I had little time to even think of the project!
More recently my options have opened up, so the plan was to start assembling the parts in one place (i.e. at my house and not the parent's!) to see what was what during this year, and decide on the course of action.
All sounded great until I spoke to my dad last weekend, which is where the “up until recently” part fits in… Turns out some scrote/to**er/w***er decided on torching the barn at about 1am one morning the previous week! Everything lost, including farm equipment, animal foodstock and worst of all, the entire GTM bodywork etc.! :(
As it’s not farm equipment, the GTM parts were uninsured. Bugger!

All this waffle leads me to the point of my posting. Does anyone know the whereabouts of any ‘spare’ bodywork? Basically, I need everything from the main bodyshell to the bonnet, bumper, engine cover, doors, windscreen. Colour is largely unimportant as painting is part of the plan, though I’ve a hankerin’ for blue (sorry to upset the reds among you!).
If I can still make the list, I’ll be going for a heated screen even though I won’t need it for some time, so that’ll be one thing sorted...
Alternatively, are the original moulds still in existence? I know Primo have modified moulds for the SVA (or was it just the bonnet for the indicator position?) but I need the original spec as mine is already registered etc.

Any replies and ideas appreciated!

Cheers, Pete.

Oh dear, that is a sad story.
Well done for not giving up though!
I can't help with any panels I'm afraid - there have been a few inc. a complete body on ebay recently so it should be possible to find what you need.

You can still join up to the 'heated screen' list, so yes that's one bit sorted :D

I have this bodywork which I no longer need. Main body is very poor condition. I’m in Wrexham if you want to come and have a look.

I think that Pete on here is going to be selling his tub (metal work), once he has measured it.

I'm going to be making some one piece boot lids, once I sort out the mould.

If you are any good at body work, I have got some spare bonnets. I'm sure that there are enough parts knocking around for you to put a whole car back together.

Good luck. :D
