Post Old K series head bolts wanted
Hi all,

Does anyone have 2 old k series head bolts they don't need? I need a couple of old ones to cut down and make cylinder liner clamps with before I begin my engine rebuild.

To make it easy I could arrange for my hermes to call and pick them up?

Cheers

Jamie

Maybe a daft question, but aren't you taking 10 of these out when you take the head off?

 Not a daft question at all.

I'd like to cut down and modify a couple of old bolts in advance of removing the head as knowing my luck I'll acedentially move the the crank and break the liner seal before I have chance to hold everything down

Wouldn't be a bad idea to lock the flywheel. Not sure how else you'd get the crankshaft pulley bolt undone anyway? In the thread linked here you'll see that with a very small mod you can use the GM locking tool from Draper that you can get for peanuts. The amazon link I posted then has gone up a bit but I bought mine for only £1.36 delivered!!!

Good tip. Just ordered one from eBay, cheapest I could get was £3.97 :D

I'm still after the head bolts though as I want to replace the crankshaft oil seal at the flywheel end as well.

You could do the crank oil seal either before you've taken the head off or after you've put it back on again. Not sure why you want to alter a bolt to make a liner retainer - just use some pipe and big washers? Like this:

That's probably an easier option to be fair. I'll get some tube (and me coat)
