Was this off one of the Skyline forums?

Think I've seen that one before.

Post Re: my gtm project(s)
just an update , bought another coupe , originally on here with Dan Ferguson, it appeared on ebay did not sell but i missed the auction anyway so after a couple of phone calls was on the way to see it.
In quite good condition but minus interior trim and engine very noisey, but under 10,000 miles on the clock. It is fitted with a 40 dellorto and a 544 cam but still apart from being noisey is not particularily quick. There is no advance and retard fitted , no place for it on the manifold.
Ok first drive very noisey and dissapointing. Flat until pushed hard , thinking i may have to drill manifold and attach vacuum pipe .
Had a look at the engine , massive tappet gaps ! now quieter and sounds better , still noisey coz of the dellorto , which i am not a fan of.
The ride was hard and handling was sketchy to say the least, at any speed it was more luck than driver skill keeping it on the road .
Had a look at the tire pressures , was shocked to find them all between 60 and 75 psi !
Front now 20 and rears 28 , it seems to be behaving a bit better now !
It also has an intermittent fuel pump proplem , sometimes cuts out , then restarts (well so far anyway)
Also it had alot of cabin noise , which turned out to be a rubber on the gear linkage had snapped leaving only one and letting it sort of hang but touch the tunnel , replaced that and big improvement in noise levels.
Anyway cant find much else wrong with it and have to say im enjoying driving it and was chuffed with my insurance at £134 fully comp.

Assuming it fits under the standard engine cover do you want to swap the DHLA with manifold for my Hif44 with manifold?

i would be very interested in any photos you have. I am in the early stages building a rossa 11 with honda 2.0 typr r engine, gearbox and subframe. I intend to rally the car and would like to be able to remove the complete subframe assembly in one peice.

Hi , due to the inlet manifold i had to change direction with engines , (yet again) , i have had a few different engines to try from bike to 2 litre type r, the problem with this in a coupe is that the manifold would be in an ideal place for a head rest ! supercharging looks like it could be an answer ... if anyone wants a type r engine and 6 speed box (with drive shafts) from a 2008 car with 18,000 miles on the clock let me know (£1150)...

If your going supercharged id recommend corky bells supercharged book as it goes into great detail.
eg,
the carb can be made to work blow through but is more complex to do
suck through works better as when you close the throttle it wont explode the carb
i went in to detail on super charging even bought a eaton charger from a bmw mini sold it on decided on a turbo from a cosworth after all that
the charger you have should give 200 horse power out of a 1340
another essential book is tuning the A series by Dave Vizard

Hi Simon

Did you ever get around to taking a picture of the DHLA in position?

Regards

David

Hi David , sorry for the delay , i had the photo's but could not seem to put them here , hope this helps

In the first pic you can see it does not interfere with external look, in the second you can see where it used to be a turbo , the rear rail is detachable , (maybe handy for a honda conv?) the last pic shows that ideally you would need to shave a few millimetres fron the underside of engine cover for the filter (if you used that type of filter) the oblong hacked out of it i think was for the previous installation
cheers simon
