Hi!

Does anybody have any experience with the Z car suspension on a Spyder?
Comments suggests that it is a major improvement on the Libra, but what about the Spyder?

No reason why it wouldn't fit.

The improvement would be the same as on the Libra. Maybe better as it will stiffen the rear bulkhead.

Just had words from Dudley that fitting a ZCars suspension on the Spyder wasn't straight forward...

Wheels won't bolt on as they hit the wishbone, and studs will be too shorts after adding wheel spacers. I'm thinking wheels with a different offset, but might not be enough?

Anyone encountered simular problems and worked around them?

Fit longer studs? I had to when spacing off my fronts to fit AP Calipers.

My Libra was the first to have Z Cars suspension. The kit was developed on my car.

On 16" MGF/TF wheels the tyres cleared the arm with no problems.

I am aware of on car running 17"s that touched. 25mm hubcentric spacers cured the problem. They were the bolt on type with built in studs.

I ended up fitting the same spacers to fill the arches better.

Dudley has fitted the ZCar Suspension, but has problems with getting the wheels right.
We are going for 16'' with tyres 205/45/16 front and rear. Would prefer to have same rims front and back. Dudley suggested 16"x 7j rim MGF pcd 95.25 offset et20, but offset 20 is difficult to find as they are not standard. I'm afraid that bespoke rims would be expensive and take time.

How are other Libras with the ZCar suspension set up?
- Is it enough with hubcentric spacers?
- What about wheel adapters to have a bigger choice of pdc and offset?
- Other suggestions?

I'm afraid that this could delay arrival in Norway. Last year Summer was on a Wednesday in June, would hate to miss it.

If you were planning to replace the wheels I would have the custom made ones as the extra cost maybe no more than you would spend on spacers. The spacers will also add more unwanted unsprung weight. I have 16 inch pro race 1.2 with 18mm offset I think they took about 3 - 4 weeks to order so you should be able to get them in time for your on day of summer.

Good idea. Do you know where I could order those custom made rims? I would need 20mm offset, and understand that that is not standard.

I got mine from Halfords a long time ago part number 5k2-670184375 I could call in to to ask current price and availability but may a week before I get chance to call
