Post Anyone fitted sun visors?
As the sun is quite low in the sky this time of year (and I tend to use the sun as my cue to get the Spyder out) I'm noticing the lack of sun visors. Has anyone fitted them? If so what doner works well? A very quick look on ebay suggests BMW Z3 visors might work as they appear to be just hinged rather than hing/rotate so the bracket is central on the visor and has a flat back. I'm hoping that screws simply self tapping into the trim layer GRP will hold them.

Any advice?

Hi,
I have MGTF visors fitted, very easy to fit.
Just trying to think when I've ever used them though?
Cheers

I used one of these http://www.eliseparts.com/products/show/6/557/sun-visor/

Not cheap I suppose for what it is (nothing on that site is, be warned!) But is of good quality and I think it works well.

I like the fact it is semi-transparent to still let some light in. This is also good as I tend to push it forward against the window when not in use to act as a sort of permanent sun strip.
(I also do this because with it folded fully back the relatively sharp edge is pointing at my head... )

Cheers,
Mike

I used Rover 100 ones, with rotate (handy for when sun is on D/S) and tilt. Fit and work well. Used self tappers with drilled pilot holes.

They're 18" x 5" overall and fixing brackets are about 13" apart

I used grey smoked perspex visors and fittings sold for use on Cobras. There is a chap who usually has a stand at the Stoneleigh Kit Car show who sells these. They look very neat and I used existing holes for the trim to attach the hinges.

Hi Raymond,

7.80 is the screw pack to mount sunvisors

The visors are considerably dearer

Eh? There's something wrong there! The linked page says visors, has a photo of them and gives their dimensions. It ends by saying that they need a screw pack which is available separately :? I'm confused........and not for the first time, either

If you look down the page there's a "chose option" the visors are 80 quid upward.

And I agree, it's not what it first appears <grrrrrrrrrr>
