Gtm weights
Just weighed the b18c libra. Half a tank, few tools, jack and spare. No driver. 820kg.
Anyone else weighed theirs?

Anyone else weighed theirs? No, but planning to get the corner weights done in the springtime so I could add them all together to get the total. I thought the Libra (k-series) was supposed to be 750kg, not sure if that included the spare. I guess half a tank is 20kg, jack and tools could be 5kg. How much heavier is the honda engine? K series are very light - only about 99kg. Internet just old me the B18c is 136kg so that is 37kg of the difference!

Re: Gtm weights
See 'Spring rate/length' page 2 in 'Libra and Spyder' for my corner weights.
Bob.

I wonder if that is with the A/C, power steering too (things i don't have) Bobs car was "Total weight [nearly full tank] 1791lb [814kg]" Time to look into where I can save some weight!

Re: Gtm weights
I think the 750kg came from the early Libras before the full trim kit with plain door cards, 1.4 engine, R65 gearbox, GTM seats. Probably no fuel, spare wheel etc.
Who has the heaviest car?
I remember Brian Twigg building a 1.4 8v Spyder that managed to tip the scales at over 1000kg!

Re: Gtm weighing
I had mine weighed at a local weighing bridge with a full tank, spare wheel etc but no body inside and they said it was 737kg (potential chance of the weights being tweaked to reduce weight prices ). In fairness I thought it would be in the low 800's any ways but was going to weigh it again when I road tax it as I won't drive it in the winter

I remember Brian Twigg building a 1.4 8v Spyder that managed to tip the scales at over 1000kg! Having just removed a R65 in favour of a PG1 I'd say (from feel alone) the the R65 is heavier? Someone will probably come on here with some hard facts to prove me wrong! I'd also say the rattle rods and linkages are heavier than the the cables? at a guess I'd say a PG1/cable set up would be about 10kg in total lighter than a R65/rod. I think also that the smaller K series are heavier than the bigger capacity ones - the castings are the same but the liners are thinner. The VVC mechs probably cancel that out though although I'm sure I read that the VVC is 99kg and the 1.4 twin cam is 102kg.

Re: Gtm weights
Choice of wheels makes a big difference, compomotive MOs for example are very heavy, most of the team dynamics ones seem pretty light
Ermmmm, choice of battery - buying a lithium one could chop a chunk of weight off instantly but beware if you use an optimate or similar you cannot use a normal one on a lithium battery.
Shocks - steel gaz are much heavier than protech
I'll have a to get my Honda libra weighed when it's done
Still can't see how Brian managed to make his weigh so much, from memory I think all his water hoses were fully made from copper and solder jointed! Were the spyders generally heavier anyway from additional strength in the tub from losing the roof?

Re: Gtm weights
I've read that the Spyder tub is 30Kg heavier than the Libra tub. Quite a bit of glass and resin!

Re: Gtm weights
Gaz/Avo use 1.9" ID springs which is smaller than protech ones I think?

Re: Gtm weights
Protech website lists 1.9" and 2.25" ID. Couldn't see which are standard on Libra/Spyder shocks.
Didn't realise GAZ were 1.9". Thanks - I will check mine.
