Re: Elise gear selector conversion
Well, it didn't get done over the winter, but after the rattle rods failing on me whilst touring Yorkshire, I have decided to get the mod done. My deadline is the Silverstone Classic, but shouldn't have too much of a problem getting it ready for that. I have already pulled out the old system. I've also removed the seat and most of the carpet and I'm currently in the process of moving all the cables, hoses, old brackets etc out of the way so that I can mount the selector in place. I will try and take photos of all the relevant bits. I think I can manage to get the correct length by adjusting where the brackets are (the engine mount is adjustable), lengthening the inner of the cables (slightly) and moving the position of the selector slightly backwards. A combination of these three things should allow for the difference in length between the elise and the libra. I have new cables, which are adjustable, so hopefully this will all be possible.

Re: Elise gear selector conversion
Lots of bits being moved at the weekend, taking pictures as I go. I'll stick them all on at the same time. Should get it finished next weekend.

They are when the bracket holding the fixed rod breaks in the middle of Yorkshire. It was pick a gear and stick with it on the way home. I will just be happy with reliable.

Well. We have done done the majority of the upgrade and just need to spend a little bit of time this week putting it all back together. I will post some more if when I have done it. Here however is a picture of the gear selector.

SAS Better late than never: You should get some idea on how the system works from the two photos.

Re: Elise gear selector conversion
Great thanks. Are those all Elise parts at GB & at the Stick end?

Re: Elise gear selector conversion
The gearbox end is all elise. The cables are aftermarket elise which I extended the inners by 50mm. The selector end "was" elise, but we stretched the main part by 50mm, model there lever and the 90 degree arm for the left right movement was model to clear some pesky pipes which were in the way. Modded brackets:

Re: Elise gear selector conversion
Finally went out for the test drive in it last night.
All I can say is wow. A very worthwhile mod, if a bit pricy for all the bits.
Thank you Ian for planting the idea in my head. It is like a different car.
