Is anyone familiar with a rattling noise coming from underneath or to the rear of a Spyder?
It doesn't seem to depend on engine speed or road speed, the frequency is the same and it doesn't seem to be the suspension (that's got it's own barking dog sound), so that leaves the bodywork.
Obviously the gear linkage and coolant system have to travel a long distance, but without a lift/ramp it's not easy to inspect.
So, are there any known causes of a constant rattle/banging that I can start with?

There are so many things that rattle

Rattle rods (gear change rods)
Water pipes
Exhaust heat shield to name 3

So many rattles, so little time!

Mine got much better after I changed to cable gearchange so the old rods must have been living up to their name. My biggest rattle is the passenger side window - fine when down, fine when the roof is up but if its wound all the way up with the roof down it makes a dreadful noise. I also have a bit of a rattle that I think is coming from my VVC mechs. When I had the tee topped MGF dipstick it rattled against the underside of the rear clam but I now have the round topped version from the front engined cars and that rattle has gone. The worst one was when the big ends went out on track at Castle Combe - people back in the paddock could hear the rattle...

Had an awful rattle on the Spyder. Looking underneath the gear change rods weren't parallel. Changed RH rod looking from back to other side of bracket.....rattle gone

Now that i know that the gear linkage is a problem, are there any mods to quieten them down a bit?
Swapping to a cable gear change is probably a bit too involved for me but if there's something along the lines of extra guides/bushes that someone has done, that would be of interest.
Or I could just fit a stereo and forget about the problem......
