Post V4ACP Libra Re-build
Hi all,

Rather than post continuing photos in the z cars rear suspension thread I thought I'd put up a separate thread to show a few few pics of my car as its slowly rebuilt.

The rear end is pretty much done now with just a few details and a new exhaust required - pics attached.

I've also shown a picture of a link I've added to stiffen up the clutch slave cylinder bracket. It was flexing when you depressed the clutch but this appears to have made it much more rigid, overall cost about £15.

This last weekend I've managed to strip out the front suspension completely and will shortly send it off for powder-coating. Also speaking to track developments about making some ARB's and have sent them the suspension measurements to accurately work out the roll centres and the bar stiffness, I'll let you all know how that goes as they could presumably be replicated for anyone else.

Any way, a few pics below -

That is looking like brand new at the rear. Very smart. You've definitely gone for the full strip at the front then! Even the rack and the brake hard lines gone!

Yep, full kit and caboodle......I was only supposed to change the head gasket!

I was joking about this with my Dad at the weekend and I worked out that the only component I won't have physically removed from the car to improve / replace / refurbish is the wiper motor........I need to get out more

Have a quick rack for the car so the old standard metro one is going begging.

Thanks Ian. Getting the front suspension off is horrible isn’t it, not something I’d want to repeat in a hurry - the forearms were scratched to ribbons afterwards :(

Must admit it took longer to remove ,refurbish and refit than I thought but I still had the bonnet and inner wings in place the worst part was the original builder had some of the wishbone bolts in the wrong way around so they had to be cut out

Malcolm I have had some email correspondence with him he now manufactures the Sylvia J15 kit car. problem is when they are built the suspension goes on before the inner wings so bolts can go in either way but once inner wings and bonnet are on most only withdraw one way

Quick update as I'm well on with the front end now.

Its mostly back together, though the hub carriers are still away having the bearings pushed in so I can't get it back on its wheels yet. You can see the wishbones are back on and I used a spare hub to measure the camber before finally fitting the wishbones with the correct shims to give 1 3/4 deg negative camber. I had to make some shims from 2.5 and 1mm plate to get it right.

The white tube in the photos is the mock Anti-roll bar (3/4" wardrobe pole) just to ensure everything fits around it when the proper one is made.
