Libra door hinges
Does anyone have a drawing of the later style libra door hinge?
Mine has the old style and the usual door dropping problem so wondered what the later type did to improve it.
Cheers

Re: Libra door hinges
Brilliant, thanks.
It looks like the bushes screw into the bar, is that right?

Re: Libra door hinges
Yup, that's correct.
Another little job I might do on mine one day...

Re: Libra door hinges
My doors have dropped because of the usual problem of the bushes ‘ovaling’ the fibreglass in the door. I was thinking of trying to bond a stainless tube into the inner door that Oilite bushes then sit inside top and bottom, they shouldn’t ever move then.
Just an idea at the moment but I’d be interested to see if anyone else has made improvements to the original hinge system?

Re: Libra door hinges
When I built mine, early'ish car with original hinges, I stuck the nylon bushes in with a bit of polyester resin and they haven't moved. But when building it I noticed the doors kept needing adjustment and looking at the catch I noticed a problem. The catch if fitted so its vertical face is level with the vertical inner face of the door has its catch slot at an angle so as the door is shut the door is pulled down at the back so the door moulding flexes a bit and next time it seems the door has dropped. Could be worth looking at the angle of the catch slot and if sloping remount it so the top nylon part of it at the inner door face is inset 2mm from the inner face of the door moulding when the bottom is flush. All depends where the strikers are mounted but those are the measurements on my car. I used my car to commute to work for most of its life and now have 38.5K miles on the clock to give you some idea how much use it has had since late 2003. Best of luck all Howard W

Thanks Howard, really useful info there. I think I know what you mean but I’m a simple type any chance of a quick sketch to illustrate the issue (cheeky I know)?
