Dolomite Tacho wiring
H guys, I tried wiring up my tacho today with no success as I didn't want to blow it up and didn't know what connection was what:
I have ignition switched live green wire. White/slate connected one end to the -ve (White black) of the coil, and a direct earth.
I also have on the back of the tacho 1 male spade, 1 male bullet and 1 female bullet.
Which is which?
Ta

Re: Dolomite Tacho wiring
That's different to mine. My Dolomite tacho had two male spade connectors and one male bullet. Could you post a photo of the back of your gauge?
On my gauge the earth was obvious as it was a spade connector fastened directly to the casing, the second male spade was the ignition live connection and the male bullet was the pulse wire from the coil -ve supply.

Re: Dolomite Tacho wiring
I think i've found the answer: http://www.lotuselan.net/publish/bouncing_tach.shtmlIt turns out I have a later type RVI tach, the only difference being the coil (loop) of wire for the sensor that is usually on the back is moved to inside the tacho casing. So I was nowhere near getting the wiring correct It also looks like it wont work with my electronic ignition anyway

Re: Dolomite Tacho wiring
Pantera,
I had exactly the same problem with mine, you will not be able to use that one (RVI) with an electronic ignition you need the RVC type, luckily I have a spare but the only problem is that it is absolutley mint (i.e brand new) and it cost me quite a bit when I brought it, I was going to use it in mine but decided that I would keep the one I've got as it matches all the other gauges. If you can't find one I'm more than happy to part with it for 100 euro + postage.

Re: Dolomite Tacho wiring
It might be worth contacting Speedy Cables. They can modify tachometers to work with different ignition systems and also convert from 6 to 4 cylinder calibration and so on.
