The pinch bolt sounds like a good solution.
I found an old Honda MX clutch arm in my parts box and I'm hoping to adapt its hinged cable nipple holder to the GTM throttle when I get a bit more time.

Had the dash out once more to fix the speedo (again) and so I had another root around the tracker.
Removed the TomTom receiver and aerial but when I disconnected the tracker control box the starter wouldn't turn......so that's what at least one of the relays controls.
Wires go all over the place from the tracker control unit and they are all black so difficult to trace.
My latest plan is to identify the permanent 12v feed and replace it with an ignition controlled feed. That way I can leave the box in place ,it will still do its relay thing when I switch the ignition on and so let the starter engage, car starts, happy days!

Nightmare…

On the subject of security, my car has the passive immobiliser. When you turn the ignition off, even to pay for petrol, it immobilises requiring much fumbling around with the fob and locking/unlocking the car to bring to life again. Very irritating. I have details of someone who can re-program it to be off until I want it on. Must get it sorted.

I feel your pain. I'm not a big fan of immobilisers either having had to be recovered soon after I bought my Spyder due to it not disarming. Mine had two, a "Toad" and the Rover 5AS. I've at least ditched the 5AS now by having a K-maps ECU remap that turned off the need for handshaking so now only the Toad to touch each time I start. Fortunately that has worked without issue so far.

I've never been a fan of the 'new' GTM logo and I much prefer the original one, so I created a bit of artwork from an old keyring that I have and then got stealthystevie to make a couple of resin dome badges. I think they look great.

I'm off to SAWS Tuning in Bolton tomorrow for a dyno run and a re-map of the V6 so should be quite interesting.
They are Rover/MG specialists with a lot of KV6 experience so looking forward to some improvements. I'm not expecting miracles but am told we can expect a few more HP plus generally better driveability. The engine in my car was new and it's done about 5000 miles now so should be nicely run-in.

Quite fancy having a smidge of popping on the over-run dialled in to satisfy the big kid in me!

So despite the mixed weather I got across to Bolton today for my dyno session and re-map. Due to the lack of chassis, I was a bit concerned about my pride and joy being tied down but it all worked out ok. The front wheels were chocked and the straps at the back (to prevent snaking when coming off the power were attached to the rear lower wishbones ahead of the wheels.

A couple of runs to calibrate the dyno and to get an initial reading gave a power output of 170bhp. A little disappointing from a 180 engine, but manufacturers are known to be optimistic when claiming power outputs. After loading up the re-map, tweaking the fuelling, raising the rev limiter from 6700 to 7200 and dialling in bit of popping and banging we had another run which gave a solid 182bhp with 176ft-lbs of torque with 5-10% increase in both from 3500rpm upwards.

Very happy with the results. Stephen from SAWS is a real Rover K & KV6 specialist, his daily driver is a lovely MG ZS180 Estate in Trophy Blue.

On the 130 mile return trip the car felt smoother and even more responsive (it was pretty good to begin with), and the exhaust pops really make you smile. Years ago I used to have a tuned R53 Mini Cooper S which did the same and I've missed the soundtrack ever since.

Tomorrow's job is a thorough clean with salt neutraliser and then shampoo - it's never been so dirty. See last pic, the white stuff is salt - aaarrrgh!

How much did it cost? Has the guy seen a Libra before?

It was £230 for the re-map and the dyno time. He hasn’t seen a Libra before, but he is very well known in Rover circles. The next car after me was a sprint/hillclimb Rover ZR with a K series. I like those, think they’ve aged very well.

That's a pretty decent result 12bhp for £230 is a bargain.

Are you running the standard ECU or is it an aftermarket one? Is the remap done live on the dyno or flashed in separately and then just the results measured on the rollers? I'm guessing you can't have had a lot of dyno time for £230 as they often cost over £100 an hour

It's a standard ECU. The basic re-map was pre-written and installed, then the fuelling was tweaked live on the dyno. Four or five runs, took about an hour. It's only ever going to be a road car so I won't be searching for any more hp, it's fast enough!

With work and a house renovation project, the Libra hasn't had much attention lately but I took it for an MOT yesterday and I'm pleased to report that it passed with no advisories. Couple of pics whilst on the lift.

Looks a bit like a big Scalextric car from underneath!
