Hi all I have just registered myself on this forum and am new to the whole forum thing. As the subject says I am after a gtm coupe.
After being into minis for many years I do believe that it is time for a change, I have long been an admirer of the coupe though could never quite justify having one due to having a fleet of minis (we've all been there!!). Now the current mini I have owned for six years, at the start of last year I decided it needed tlc so a full respray gearbox rebuild and a whole host of goodies later it was finished . Then after a few minor issues on the 26th september 2009 (castle coombe) I was on my way to only my second mini show of the year in a mini but oh it felt good until only 2 miles from my house a really nice young lady in a fiesta pulled out in front of me , i will leave everyone to come to there own ending on that one. The car is now questionable whether it is repairable so I have a whole load of nicey nicey bits (turbo engine and sccr gearbox) that need a good home hence why I am now on the hunt for a coupe.
1. Does anybody know of anything for sale?
2. I live in Plymouth and a friend of mine believes he saw one on the road the other day so are their any members near me as I would really like to get in contact with them?

Welcome Pete, sorry to hear about your Mini, but Coupes seem to be a natural progression I can't help in your search, do persist though because they certainly turn up from time to time.

"Coupe wanted" posts seem to be common place of late
keep looking, it may take some time but I'm sure you'll find one.
Ebay turns up a few every now and then, keep a watch on here as well

Hi Pete

I've just bought a Coupe, should be collecting it in the next few weeks. The chap I bought my car off said there was another in the same town owned by his old boss. It's been parked up for 10 years but I believe under cover - unlike the Sheffield car. My advice is to keep an eye on ebay and put a wanted add on Pistonheads.

There are two "rally" Coupes for sale at the moment, not cheap and both heavily modified.

Hi guys thanks for the greetings. I have just placed my wanted ad on pistonheads so all I can do now is wait and keep my eyes peeled on the internet. 'Mr Mac' how jealous am I? have seen the photos of your recent purchase, it looks a really nice example and makes me want one even more. I dont suppose this gentleman still has any contact with his former boss or maybe even a contact number I could have? if you could find out that would be great .

'Mr Mac' I am interested in pretty much anything as long as it is fairly complete
and not one like the sheffield car with a chassis folded in two. I am happy to take
on a project that is a non runner, needs paint/bodywork and welding to a certian
degree as long as I have something to work with, I do have friends around me that
would be more that willing to help . Obviously the better the car is the happier
I would be .

The other thing I started doing was finding pictures of Coupe's and then using the DVLA web site to check when they were last taxed. If they had not been on the road for a few years then you stand a good chance of being able to track the car down (by asking on here) and it being in reasonable condition.

I bought this car in November and I am getting very excited about driving it.
I am going to Llandow for a track day in early March and I have entered a Curborough sprint at the end of March followed by a day at Prescott in April.

As a relative novice in motorsport I have had to buy everything, car, trailer, tyres, licence, racewear, helmet, insurance etc etc. Now I am really looking forward to having some fun.

Yes it is on the 6th.

Apart from pottering around an industrial estate on slick tyres in the pouring rain with speed bumps every 50m; I have not driven the car.

I do not know the noise limit but I will be inside it; I understand they are pretty reasonable about noise anyway.
