there seems to be very little space behind my rad to get the fan in. Haven't really got a decent photo, this is a pic of how i got the car (quite a long time ago now  ) does anyone recognize that fan? - it doesn't want to work anymore unfortunately but one of those would do the job again i guess.. Otherwise what other fans are people using? Standard allegro?

You might find that you can tip the radiator a bit more forward at the top - this'll give you more room.

If you are going to Stoneleigh, then you can get one cheap from there. There is a stand that virtually just sells radiators and fans. I got one from there, I think it was about £10 and I got an aluminum radiator for £15!

I think the fan I got was for a Fiesta, which seems fairly easy to mount.

I'd try and tip it forward and shroud it as much as possible, to try and get as much air through it as possible.

Personally I'd spend the extra money and fit a Pacet. Put one of these on the Lotus Europa and it pushes through plenty of air and has got rid of any overheating problems. They also do a variety of sizes, and they are easy to fit. You can also turn the fan round so it will push/pull as required.

They aren't the cheapest option but you won't have to replace it.

This one came from Car Builder Solutions.

It fits easily and is reversible. You swap the connections and turn the fan round on it's spindle.

Your current fan is a

Metro fan, had one once back in early coupe ownership

Try getting a pacet or simular I run a ten inch fan mounted on the front of my Radiator. and by using this fan you can move the rad closer to the subframe increase the angle slightly, and move it up a little possibly improving ground clearance, My rad is lower than i would like but its as good as i can get it but seems to be ok.

Ducting air to and from the rad will help and on my plans eventually, I have a rubber seal on the top of mine to help stop leakage, Also a small Rubber seal on the underside acting like a gurney, in theory maiking the bottom part work more efficiently.

Alternatively, you probably have the space to fit another fan alongside the currrent one. This'd be the cheap option.
