Post Dutch Green Machine
All the things I experience, have questions about and try to fix or improve on my car are now spread out in different topics.
Because I prefer to centralise it, I decided to make this topic about my car and share all the pain and joy I have with it.

Things that are happening now or need to be tackled in the nearby future:

- Try to fix tires with flat spots. I have placed wooden blocks under the jacking points so the wheels are off the ground and overinflated the tires to 4,5 bar, hope this will work.
- There is quite an amount of oil leaking from the engine, from the side where the distributionchain is situated. Is there an easy way to find the exact leakage-spot or is it trial and error? Is there a way to dismount the distributionchaincover without getting the engine out?
- Both brake- and clutch-mastercilinder keep on leaking oil, I think that they will have to be replaced.

Things I have done sofar since I bought it about a year ago:

- Made and placed a new rearwindow and rubber
- Replaced doorrubbers
- Removed white round stickers on doors
- Replaced seats
- Replaced rev counter
- Painted doorwindowframe
- Repositioned doors
- Sprayed Sills
- Polished the partly weathered polyester body (still needs to be improved)
- Placed reverselight-switch
- Placed adjustable lower arms and tiebars on front and rear.
- Placed HiLo's in front, the rear allready had them.
- Placed new trackrods in the rear.
- Alligned it (more than once...)
- Repainted fueltank
- Renewed clutch slave cilinder

Probably forgot a few things...

What's your opinion on these Wolfrace wheels?
Would they look good on the Coupe (once they are refurbished)
I like the looks of the wheels, don't know for sure if they look well on the GTM
The wheels are for sale here in Holland, the sellers sais they fit the classic mini, so should fit the GTM too.
6x13" and need some TLC.
Without wheelnuts or centrecaps, which are still for sale, but are not very cheap.
Buy these wheels, refurbish them, and buy new nuts and centrecaps or save my money for new wheels in the future?
Will Minilights 6x13" with polished dish be too flashy?

@Senzomat: Minilights with polished dish look nice on a mini, maybe too shiny for the coupe?

@Ken: Thanks for that, last thing I want to be associated with is VW..... :?
Personally I associated the Wolfrace wheels with old Escorts and American Muscle more than VW...
The 5-spoke Revolutions look good, just not in black on my car I think. On the Revolution site I only see them in 15" ?

I always associate Wolfraces with badly souped up Capris, green sunvisors and furry seat covers from my childhood in Devon.
Revos in 4 or 5 spoke are lovely, and you can't really go wrong with a minilite!

7 x 13 Superlight Split Rim Wheel - Gunmetal/Polished Rim From mini sport looks good on a coupe...

15" Revo's will be a bit large for the coupe
So Wolfraces alloys seem to have a doubtfull reputation, I will keep that in mind
I don't know if dark alloys will look good on my green coupe, and personally I don't really like the bolts of splitrims. (Will 7x13" wheels in combination with 175/50-13 tires fit the coupe without rubbing or sticking out too far?)
I have been thinking of white wheels and bringing back the white number-sticker on the doors, nu don't know if that will get boring on a long term, metalish colors are more timeless.

What about the quality of wheels?
When I asked my supplier if he could supply Ultralite wheels, he said he could not deliver them and they are of less quality than the Minilights, which he can supply... ( and have a higher price)
Is this true or just sales-talk?

If I can get the flat spots out of my tires than the wheels/tires have no real priority.
But when I have to get new tires than a set of new wheels and tires are a good option.
I think there are better looking wheels around than my current Alleycat ones.
My tires in front and back are of a different brand, that allone got me thinking about buying new ones too.
Last week I saw that the size is not the same too, 165/60-13 in front, 165/65-13 in rear.
165/60 tires are almost extinct, 165/65 tires are available in more than enough types.
175/50 tires will almost limit the choice to Yokohamas A539 or brands you rather not have (nankang)
I like the looks of 175/50 tires better, they look chunkier, butt the fact that they are less high will make that the wheelarch will be filled less. (And lowering the car is not really an option if you want to drive over speedbumps without scraping the cars bottom)

Dillemma's dilemma's

There was a set of Wolfrace wheels with the Kano Coupe when I bought it, but I don't like them, so bought a set of 6 spoke BBS wheels localy that fit my Toyota hub flanges at a very good price, I had 4 spoke 7x13 Revolutions on my old Cox fitted with 175x13-50 P7 as they were the only low profile tyre back then and were only a smidgen bigger than the 165x10's I used for road driving

@John: won't 7j wide wheels stick out of the arches too much? Or is the offset of that kind that the wideness of the wheels go to the inside instead off the outside? No rubbing-troubles whatsoever?

My car with current tires has been on wooden block for two weeks now with its feet off the ground and 4,5bar of pressure in them, hoping that the flat spots will disappear.
I hoped to go and test it today, but first I want to solve the oilleakage from the timingchaincover-side, it's getting worse, but I need a 34mm socket for the pulley-bolt, which I ordered and expected to arrive last friday, but it still is not here.... Grrrr

Hi Harold,
At my 1st event with the 7" wheels and P7 tyres I was pulled by the scrutineers and told I must fit wheel arch extensions, there is a picture on here somewhere of old XPL16 on its revolutions.
Surprised you are waiting for a 34mm socket, pop around and I will lend you one

Last friday and saturday I replaced the timingcovergasket and timingcover oilseal, and hoped the oilleakage would be over.
But after a testdrive I left it in my garage for half an our, and guess what... New oildrops on the floor beneath the Timingcover... :?
I hope it is old oil which was already on the engine and dripped off because the engine was hot, but I know better...
What would be the most logical spot for the oil to come from now?
The oildipstick is quite loosely in the engine, is this usual? Don't know if oil from there would drip down to the timingcover-side. I'm looking for possibilities now, hope its not the gearbox gasket or headgasket.
Wish I had more space around the engine to look for the spot off leakage... It's hard to see where it's coming from.

Drove around with 4,5 bar tirepressure... Quite an uncomfortable ride...
The vibrations seem less or over, hope this still is when I release some air...
Just felt some when talking a turn to the right, but could have been poor road with overinflated tires too...

Cheers Harold.
