I made bonnet hinges with rod end joints, next is to find bonnet catches the originals were Herald/Spitfire, but looking on ebay look to be rare these days, I had a look on the Car Builder website for something suitable, any suggestions out there??

Hi Malcolm, thanks for that, the Aerocatch 3 could be the one to go for there is a moulded recess in the bonnet side, so I will have to check the size to see if they can match up, or cover the recess completely.

Your rapid progress is putting me to shame although I do have the body shell repaired but not finished.
I like your bonnet hinges, is there any vertical adjustment?
Looked on my car and there's never been any brackets for the catches

Hi Eric, at my advanced age I can’t afford to progress slowly!! The rod end hinges have no vertical adjustment, I set the bonnet into position with a bike stand and wood packing blocks, I set the horizontal position with lock nuts in the rod end bolts, then made 2 x 7mm thick spacers to replace the nuts.
After leaving your house on the Friday my renta tranni got stuck in 2nd gear so crawled to Werrington Park before calling the breakdown service to fix it, (lots of WD40 and a little brute force) I got 2 x 2nd places for the Sat & Sun events that was the thanks for helping the chap who beat me repair his car after he had an off!!
Must press on, time is flying

Just to let you know I have not gone on strike, but my house compuer has and I can't downsize pictures on my office pc :oops:I resize and save with a new name and nothing happened
My R-H rack has become L-H and I found a u-j to fit, I found 9" Nissan disks and calipers with the rears having a hand brake operation and am well on the road to making front & rear caliper brackets, plan to be on the lathe in a 4 jaw chuck tomorrow to make the 3" mini hub location hole, what I've not found are Mini suspension and steering bits, so am making lower arms and tie rods to go with the upper arms I made, I brought back measurerments of my ex Jedi AVO dampers so can fabricate the mounts without them. The cage is back out of the car, complete apart from the steering column mounts and painted.
If any body can tell me why my pictures do not resize with windows XP I will post
John
