I'm planning ahead for my son's Coupe build (see elsewhere) and looking at radiators. I like the look of the Toyota MR2 unit and the length will fit between the bonnet mountings but it's 350mm deep compared with 300mm for the Allegro item. What do you guys think? Will it fit without dropping too low to the ground? Are there any other suggestions for suitable units?

I've researched this too, I haven't bought anything yet but check out the corsa B rad, I think Neil/WEST may have one fitted, also check out the elise/exige rad |

If the MR2 rad is a bit deeper, you could do what I did on my old Cox way back, I fitted a Renault R16 rad, remember them? it was the correct width to fit between the outer legs of the sub frame and had fixing lugs each side with rubber grommets but fouled the front channel section of the sub frame so I fabricated a new channel and fitted it lower down and a little further back allowing the deeper rad to be fitted when angled slightly. Hi There, On my Fiesta Engined car I have fitted a Coolex aluminium Elise radiator. This is 320 deep and 680 wide. On this car it is quite steeply angled and fits where the petrol tank would be. It could probably be made to fit in the space in front of the subframe, where the Allegro radiator usually goes, but may be a bit close to the ground to avoid damage from speed humps etc. Regards Derek Hambly |

I like the Corsa rad, but was also looking at a Mk1 fiesta one, I used one in the front of my old Hillman Imp way back and it worked a treat, a lot shallower than the others. |

some info here http://www.gtmdrivers.com/forum/coupe-radiator-t462.html?hilit=corsa&sid=884f77722dd011b71f82cf199f48e67a Yes I run a Vauxhall combo van radiator from a 1.7 Turbo diesel 94-98, got mine from pma group around £50 from memory, the latest one I have is slightly thinner tho compared to my original it seemed to be managing ok last year even with the slight issue of a cracked head developing. Its a good size for the coupe and the outlets are in similar position to the allegro rads. Core size 650 x 270 x 35. Neil |
