Evening all!

Am quite new to the forum and am just about to embark on the restoration of my coupe.
The car was given to me by a work mate in 2004 due to it being sat in his garage since 1984!
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of when I first seen it but it was one of them barn find moments.
The car has a genuine 450 miles on the clock, the reason for this is because he wanted to use the car for hill climbs but found the car not to be quick enough so spat his dummy out and stored it in his dads garage.

The clutch was seized when I had got the car home so started to strip the motor out of it, and it stayed in that half striped state till now. The boby work and pan are in excellence condition just showing signs of age due to being stored for so long.
I have a mini which I've had for the last fifteen years which I have spent a fortune on, unfortunately this is now up for sale to fund the cox project
There is going to be loads of questions I need to ask over the next year I'm planning on getting it done in.

Welcome to the forum!!
Nice to see a coupe being brought back to life.
It has a really low mileage.
Is the body in good condition?

I wonder why I never get such great gifts by my workmates...

The body is in excerllent condition, just not a real top paint job. Hoping abit of wet and dry and a good machine
polish may sort it.
The pan is also excellent but has been painted in a horrible blue hamerite hammer type finish! Will be dipped and painted
when it's stripped.
My workmate is quite a lot older than me and because he never used the car and knew I was into my minis he decided to give
me it if I promised I wouldn't sell it on. I owe it to him really to get it sorted and back on the road.

Hi Nick you're a luck chap, that's a nice gift, when finished if you want to hillclimb it they can go quite well just go out and enjoy what is basically an almost 50 year old car

Hi Nick,
Welcome to the forum -- must be a good mate that's a great present.
The numbers are the chassis number -- should be on the V5 -- and tell you when it was made. Unfortunately I've no idea how to de-code -- Stuart (turbocox) is the expert but I suspect he's a bit busy right now making bits for Mr Verstappen's racer. You could pm him or wait until he's back in circulation.

@steve: Does Stuart (Turbocox) work for Redbull or Renault or an other supplier? How great must that be.
VMax had a disapointing qualification today, nineth because of a red flag in his fastest lap.
Mister Hamilton wont be Happy too.

Can anyone tell me what bushes are in the two mounting points in the pic below?
Are they just standard mini bottom arm bushes back to back?

Harold you have a PM

Nick,
There's a long thread about those bushes either in the Coupe section or the suspension area -- they're not easy to source so if they're OK it might be best to leave well alone

Cheers Steve
On closer inspection there both quite good so will leave well alone. The inside ones are shot but there no big issue.
Once again thanks, that could have caused me a big headache if I'd removed them!

Hi Nick, easier if you look for Rossa Bitz :) he does a nice gear linkage and a rear steer locking system that could be used in the Coupe
