Hi everyone, I am looking for a fuel tank to sit in the Vee of my Heerey GTM, does anyone have one they would sell? Thanks

Hi Andy,
I made a steel tank to fit in my old Cox long ago and worked well until rust got into carbs, my current car had an alli tank made by Jedi Race Cars after supplying a cardboard template, the Vee tank was never a standard from Cox, Heerey, etc, back in the day a Mini tank was used, or a rectangular tank sitting in the front subframe with a place to fit the spare wheel on top.
If you have a local welder/fabricator and supply with card templates that's about the only way you will get a Vee tank

I have found someone that can make me an alloy tank for the vee, it’s a great use of space.

Good idea to make an alloy tank.
Just for the record I have a Heerey coupe, K registration, that has a steel fuel tank in the vee.
It was fitted from new as a standard option.

What is the capacity of the Tank that sits in the vee?

Got a vague memory of 10.5 gallons?

I have a GRP one that that sits in the Vee, came with my Heerey, I am replacing it with a 4 gallon alloy one that sits in front of the rad, but TurboCox has already has bagsies on it.
If he ever comes to collect it... :D

GRP tanks can be attacked by alcohol in petrol, I'm sure there was a ban on production bikes having grp tanks for this reason. so be careful!!

He only wants it as a template I think! I was going to chuck it in a skip!

I measured the Heerey Vee tank and it seems to have a capacity of 35 litres which is approx. 7 imp gallons (90% full) or 8,5 US gallons (90% full). A new tank could be made slightly taller getting a 2-3 imp gallon increased volume.

I thought it was a good position when I bought the kit, now I don't know if I want 7 gallons of petrol in front of my face. Also full that's 40 kg extra weight at a high roll centre.
Probably an alloy tank mounted low in the front subframe is a better option.

I can vouch for ethanol eating into a glass fibre Heerey V tank - it basically unglued the top half from the bottom, entire seam popped open on two sides. However, fixed by using an epoxy tank coating, which resists ethanol.
