Hi, I have a remote cast gear change on my Coupe and I’m struggling to make clean gear selections, especially first gear. Would I be better changing my gear box for a twin shaft change type? Has anyone had any experience changing these over and if so, were the gear selections significantly better? I have a nice newly made bit of gear change kit from Alan Britton ready for the twin shaft change if need be! Thanks for any advice anyone can offer !

Hi Ken I used the old cut in half remote change on my old Cox long and found the changes OK apart from slipping into the reverse slot on hurried gear changes, I fitted a hinged lockout to cure this. Mini Spares do a spring load kit that pushes the gear leaver into the 1st-2nd slot, but as I've not tried it can't comment if its better. I'm sure Alan's rod change Kit will be better if you change the box, I use a twin shaft change but pass the selector shaft through the front of the box not underneath. John |
