Hi all,

well i got my new libra back, but due to needing some jobs doing after being stood for 5 years, i want to either strip and powder coat the metal rad pipes which connect the thermostat housing to engine,
or replace,

anyone know where i may be able to get replacement pipes for the vvc k series ?

and anyadvice into whilst its in bits having head and belts done as to any updates i should do to the head/ cooling side of things,
is there a thermostat i shluld use with a hole in it (cant remeber if i saw this in a past thread

Take a look at this here
High temperature exhaust spray paint I have found as good as powder coating as long as the wife
doesn't mind you borrowing her oven and you can do it at home cheaply
Fit a PRT remove the original thermostat and replace it by blanking plate PEL000040 and seal PEF10010 this should fix any thermal shock issues on a 1800 VVC
Leave the head alone unless the gasket has failed
Timing belts can deteriorate with age ,check it and if mileage is high for peace of mind change it

Hi Pilt,

is the thermostat just a swop, ? or is this the new pipe system which makes the thermostat remote??

just wondering as this seems to be basically running without a stat and would it not run cold this way?

Hi
This is a revised pipe solution with a remote thermostat that support a larger bypass hose to over come the design issue encountered with the original thermostat location and longer pipe runs from a foward mounted raidiator

Check with Rimmer brothers for the MGF cooling system
