Mini Disc Driveshafts
Are the driveshafts used with drum brakes the same as the ones used for discs except for the outer cv joint? ie if I want to fit discs can I use the inner cv joints and shafts already on the car and just need to change the outer cv's to disc type?

Re: Mini Disc Driveshafts
From memory yes this is possible, it is just a change of CV joint between drum and disc.

Re: Mini Disc Driveshafts
That's a quick reply I was on the point of buying complete drive shafts when the thought occurred that I might not need to. Magic

Re: Mini Disc Driveshafts
I can confirm with a yes now I have thought about it,,, When we changed the brakes on my brothers mini we just replaced the uprights/cvs when we fitted the cooper s assemblies.
Fitting Discs will widen the track

Re: Mini Disc Driveshafts
Thought discs had taper bearings and drums parallel?

Re: Mini Disc Driveshafts
Correct, on the bearings but they are all the same size/interchangable. Later metros had drum bearing [angle contact] due to them having less friction for economy reasons
