Are the driveshafts used with drum brakes the same as the ones used for discs except for the outer cv joint? ie if I want to fit discs can I use the inner cv joints and shafts already on the car and just need to change the outer cv's to disc type? |

From memory yes this is possible, it is just a change of CV joint between drum and disc. Neil |

I can confirm with a yes now I have thought about it,,, When we changed the brakes on my brothers mini we just replaced the uprights/cvs when we fitted the cooper s assemblies. Fitting Discs will widen the track Neil |

Thought discs had taper bearings and drums parallel? |

Correct, on the bearings but they are all the same size/interchangable. Later metros had drum bearing [angle contact] due to them having less friction for economy reasons Neil |
