Hi The exhaust and silencer looks fine for a standard 1275 engine. If your engine has a different cam or improved gas flowing of the head and revised induction such as Big SU carbs or a DCOE 45, the derestriction will gain very little. Take a look at Maniflows website for their LCB exhaust systems and known free flowing silencers like RC40 for ideas. I recommend reading David Vizard A series tuning manual on the subject of exhaust sizeing. Regards PiltV40 |

Thanks for that. I have a Piper fast road cam already fitted and a set of twin HS4s on the shelf but I'm not sure if I'll fit them or not - if the engine is running OK for a change maybe I should leave well alone for a while.... I've always been suspicious of that severe U bend on the silencer but maybe it's not as bad as it looks. Time to get my copy of Vizard down from the attic again |

I used the GTM stainless steel system on a 1400cc A+ which showed 113bhp on the rolling road. No sign that the exhaust was restricting output and it kept it reasonably quiet. Richard |

Cheers, Richard! I'm only expecting about 85bhp (exactly 300 less than my Scooby had ) so it should be good enough for me. |
