What bike engines will fit in the GTM Coupe .....other than the R1????

All of the Japanese in-line 4 cylinder engines are similar in size, weight and architecture so I would imagine they could all be made to fit.

An important consideration is how easy it is to baffle the sump or even to dry sump the engine to avoid oil surge.

I did an article detailing the commonly used bike engines for CKC a while back.

Most of the 1000 sports bike engines have narrow torque bands at high revs compared to car engines, of the 1000 the Suzuki K5&6 are the most torquey. The Suzuki Hyabusa 1300 would be a better way to go and is a common transplant into cars, dry sumps kits are available for both theses engines.
Since 2000 I've used Kawasaki ZZr1100 in My Jedi race car they are well sorted with 160bhp at the wheels with 80+lb-ft between 4000-10500rpm, a very wide power band by bike standards, they will be on the market at the end of my season in September.

The lack of low down torque on a bike engine does mean that you will have to juggle with the overall gearing in order to be able to get the car to pull away from a standstill. Obviously the bigger the engine the less of a problem this will be.

I have nothing at all against bike engine cars but, whilst they are ideal on the race track, they can be a bit of a pain to drive on the roads due to the above problem.
