1.4K Series - Throttle Body Spacer
For some reason my 1.4 K series engine fitted to my Libra has a "flexible" spacer between the throttle body and the manifold -- effectively 2 metal plates bonded to a rubber moulding. Having fitted a K&N filter that's unsupported this spacer has started to split where the rubber is glued to the metal. This is the second time this has happened so I thought I'd try to fix the problem. Does anyone know whether there's a solid spacer available to replace this part -- on the web I've found lots of parts for Honda engines but nothing for a K series. Thanks

Re: 1.4K Series - Throttle Body Spacer
Hi Steve,
My throttle body bolts straight to the inlet manifold, but I have an alloy inlet manifold/plenum so might be different if you have the plastic one. I have a spare alloy inlet manifold - was going to put it on ebay in a couple of weeks. PM me if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer -- I think my manifold is alloy but will check tomorrow -- never thought to just remove the damn thing but will check that out also.

Re: 1.4K Series - Throttle Body Spacer
Traditionally carbs were rubber mounted to isolate the float chamber and its needle valve from the vibration of the engine.
Why you would decide to rubber mount a throttle body is more of a mystery.

Pics of your engine, setup & problem area would help.

Re: 1.4K Series - Throttle Body Spacer
I have the same rubber spacer/insulator on my 1.4 that originally started life as a Metro GTi with an alloy plenum. Like others I've never been sure exactly why it is there though although the edges are lifting slightly there doesn't appear to be any leaks. Should it go wrong I suspect I'd be getting the lathe out and making a new one.

Re: 1.4K Series - Throttle Body Spacer
Thanks everyone -- I'll have a route around over the weekend and see if I can mount the throttle body direct.
Rich -- Rimmer Bros does keep the part -- around £30 +vat+post -- get that lathe running!
