Hi Chris and welcome.

Blimey, chassis no4, I have chassis no2 and have nearly 56K on the clock.

Good luck on your project.

Tring's not that far away from me or the 'southern' meet :?:

I'm off to The Sliverstone Classic tomorrow and away for a weeks holiday straight after, speak to you in August, maybe at the meet on the 3rd.

Hi Bob,

I will try to get to the southern meet on the 3rd August, near elstree? just down the A41 then turn left should be easy enough to find.

I'm sure I will have lots of questions to help my build.

Nice one!

Think I've seen that car on pistonheads before.

I wonder who has chassis number 1? Or will that have been a GTM demo or something..

Andrew has The original demo car I think.

Yes the original demo car was chassis no 0 and was written off in France [Gary Owen I think].

When I ordered my car Peter Beck [deceased,of GTM Cars Ltd] said he had promised no1 to Andrew ? [can't remember his surname] so I had to have no 2 :D

I assume, from the pic of the Libras front end, that you intend to use a cable operated cluch. When
I was building my Libra 5 years ago I was told DO NOT fit the cable clutch, go for hydraulic operation.
I chose to ignore the advice but within a few months was looking for a hydraulic fix due to the
juddery operation of the cable system. All I can say is dont repeat my mistake.

Thanks Don,
I'm afraid the clutch is already in so I will stick with it for now and change it later if (when) it starts to judder.
Talking to Bob Snooks it looks like i will probably have to change the dampers and springs at some point too. So I will save it all up and have something fun  to do next year.

I just want to get it up and IVA'd at the moment then I will start messing about getting it nice.

Looking good Chris.

I too noticed your clutch cable and was going to warn you about it, but as usual I'm too slow in posting.
I would make and carry a cable repair kit as they break as well as stretch. The nipple breaks off at the pedal.

You said at the meet you have a 1.8VVC, what gear box do you have :?:

Looking at your pictures I think I can see a PG1 gear change :?:

Not sure which Gearbox, I just assumed there was one type.

If it helps it has the mechanical gear change rather than the Cable gear change, and it looks to have a Cable drive with an electronic signal converter screwed into the drive.
I believe that it was also out of a rover 200 not an MGF with supossedly 18000 miles.
