Post David B's Rossa K3
Here we go, I'm going to keep a blog of any changes/updates to my K3 here;

http://gtmrossak3.tumblr.com/

Recent photos here. http://yfrog.com/user/dbanes/photos

First jobs will be;
- Adjust ride height, suspension geometry
Done, set at 115mm for now due to larger wheel/tyre combination, I may downsize to 14" rims.

- Remove rear wing
The rear clam has hinge damage I'm sure in part due to the weight and downforce of the wing and I suspect it's messing with the aero rather than helping.

- Roll bar or roll cage
Safety and to reduce shell twist. But this looks like a big job because the fuel tank is in the way of a direct fix to the rear subframe. Anyone done this?

- Re-cover or replace seats
I ended up tossing what I could remove in the washing machine and cleaning in situ' on a hot day. The seats look 3 years not 20 years old now.

- Source new headlamp covers
Will pick these up from Alan at Rossabits at the next southern club meet.

- Refit clams using 'lift and rotate' adjustable hinges
Found some good hinges, I just need to get under the car to see if they'll work.

Far in the future...
- Paint job to restore original colour (gel coat is faded)
- MGTF subframes (so I can ditch the Hydragas)
- Engine upgrade to 1.8 or KV6 (I'll need a bigger car for the KV6, I think they call them Libras)

One shorter term 'fix' for the faded gel coat would be a vinyl wrap, has anyone got any experience of these?

Wow some big alterations to come then.

As for the wrap, the bodywork still has to be in perfect shape as though it is going to be painted otherwise it will look Toffee. I have seen a few cars done now and yes they look good but on closer inspection, often, the returns and edges are not done, saw a Lambo at a show and it was satin black wrapped but open the doors or the boot area and it was still orange!! also the cost was fairly high, at the same show they were wrapping a C5 corvette during the show and the cost was £2750 again door shuts and other bits were not included.
Having said all that I believe there is a company that can wrap a car to look like it is fully chromed or made from aluminium, think Mclaren F1 race car look.

Cool, maybe a fake carbon fibre look then... :lol:

If I go the wrap direction I think it'll be the same colour, but at those prices may as well go for paint!

The price quoted was a few years ago and as more companies are doing it I'm sure that the prices must have come down a bit by now, plus the Rossa is a fair bit smaller :)

Hi David. I saw a Range Rover being wrapped at a show I went to recently near Nottingham but did not get any prices. It was a Nottingham company, you will find them here

With regard to your roll bars the person you need to talk to is
Howard Yoeman. he has had one fitter recently to his K3.

Missed this months meet due to a defective clutch, compounded by a flat battery. Quick look and the fluid was filthy, bled it and mostly dark bubbly fluid came out so all good now with new DOT 4 fluid.

Quick spin round the block with the soft top which I suspect is the last one of those with the weather turning already.

Oh, and my old Marlin is back on the road, the yellow one here; :)
