Good effort chap! 8)
see you at Avon park then :D
Low 14seconds ? or mid 13's ?

I had a coupe a while back, with one of the rear arch intakes, I think it made mine look horrid
Are you going to remove it :?:

Looking good :) It must be a bit heavier than when you started

I was told at Race Retro that if you used part of the cage as the column support the column should now be below and not above it, could worth checking

Oh I hope not, I deliberately bought something needing restoration, it was fairly obviously a wreck!
And besides if I can do it, it can't be that hard 8)

I think in a way it's easier to start again than try to do localised repairs anyway.

Thank you, but that's only because most of it is new

just noticed its a flat floor chassis as well

Yes that produced a bit of head scratching when I tried to fit the seats, I got a pair of Corbeau Alpines for my birthday!
My adjuster rail design went straight in the bin, even with the seats directly on the floor there's only just enough headroom and I'm on'y 5'8".
I've leaned them back a bit and it's OK now...just.
It's made worse because I'm fitting a cage, but there's really not a lot of room in a Coupe is there !!

Just a couple more weeks work then :P

You think that long? I though it might be finished by the weekend :(

Ahh, I think not, a long way from deepest Dorset, don't really do straight lines anyway :D more a bendy sort of person :?
Be interesting to see how it goes though.

Thinking about that, what's the traction like? Do any of you run an LSD?

You would think so, but actually I've removed so many bagfulls of rust, muck and soundproofing not to mention the second layer of steel 'welded' over the rust, that I think in fact it's still lighter !
I also removed the roof spoiler...that turned out, like the arches, to be made of solid filler, it weighed an absolute ton !!!

Ah, that could be a problem, that's exactly what I was planning on doing.
Do you know who said that, and why??

Traction is pretty good, depends how much of an animal you are and how much power, think only myself and ken haywood run an LSD. but mine is a little different for obvious reasons. but generally you will find you have more traction than you do on the road as its a prepared surface especially if some of the drag cars have been down and laid a nice bit of rubber down.

It must be tight in your coupe, glad mine has the seat pans dropped as im 6'2 never would fit with a flat floor. especially when i put my crash helmet on.

Yes, my son's quite large, also about 6'2", it looked very funny the first time he sat in it. His head was out of the sunroof, looked like he was sitting in a toy car!

It was a company that make cages, can't remember off the top of my head but i'll check when i get home on Sunday. It may be worth checking in the RAC regs before you get too far, i intended to do the same as you although i've no motorsport intentions at present

 Keep an eye out today (lunchtime ish) for a post on my own project- i took quite a few pictures before it was hidden away in the garage.

Looks like i`m going to be busy for a while! and i may have to get friendly with a local welder, or learn a lot.

Well a bit more progress.
Fitting the pedals, so I could work out seat and wheel positions.

Image

More prep work on the body, it's now about the right shape and I've lost the wing and arches.

Image

The cage is complete and fitted, I've tried to follow the MSA guidlines as much as possible but I just didn't have room for 2 roof bars without lowering the floor which I don't want to do.
There's going to be little enough ground clearence anyway.

I've decided to run the steering column through the front brace and also use it as the lower dash support.

Image

And a milestone reached...I've made it onto page one of the build manual!

Image

The body is now bonded onto the tub. :P
