Depends what you wanted, I knew exactly what I was getting into.
All I really needed was something pre '75 - the condition was irrelevant.
Besides the tax exempt status makes it effectively free after 2 years anyway so I'm happy

Thanks Alex, it does look a bit better now!
Matt that's nice, I've always quite liked the early Spitefires.

, interesting as i have a chassis the same and petrol tank very similar on my old racer. the door handles? are like the boot handle on an mgb , i really must get some photos here of it , at least now i have an idea of its date. Your gtm looks great now , a worthwhile resto

Indeed that is where one of them came from !
The, more original, other one is very slightly different, I believe it's from a Commer van, which could be the same as a Lotus Elite (the original one of course)

Courtesy of Peter reminding me, here are a few pics of my coupe as it stands at the moment.
Almost finished really just need to sort out the carbs and ignition and and ......

Wheels sticking out too far here, now corrected - different wheels, these had too much offset, and judicious turning of 1 or 2 mm off here and there on the hubs!

I do have a new steering wheel to go on but that's pretty much it on the interior.

After a few false starts eventually got a twin box RC40 / LCB to fit under the rear

Ahh, you're too kind.
What would be really impressive would be a scan of an MOT and a video of it whizzing up the road !!!!

Soon soon ...

Hi all, just got back from been taken for a spin round the block in Dion's GTM , seems like a really nice solid little drive , i was impressed how smooth the ride was. After watching the build on here and hard work involved it felt even more impressive, definately alot more civilised than my current coupe... Thanks Dion and congratulations on a great result .
