Had to have the tighter bends done by a local factory as the tube (45 x 2.5 ) kept collapsing on the bender I borrowed, top screen and door bars bent by my self, boxes and welding done by a friend.

Tried engine/box in new rear end (2"x1" box and 2" longer) was hoping to fit without removing the sub frame but the gearbox did not want to play that game when its bolted to the engine !!!! So plan B, place the box in the frame first ( 90 degrees then turned to suit) push back as far as poss, drop in engine, bolt together and on with the engine mtgs, hoorah. Fits nice, only needs a few mods for extra clearance will get underneath this week and have a wiggle around.

Top build -- is that Alan's new rear suspension in the photos? And adjustable bottom arms -- what camber are you planning to run?

Going to do some of the Welsh championship and would like to do a few rallys as I used to co-drive in a coupe over 20 years ago ( short stroke all steel 1299, 125 bhp ). Will see my mate and perhaps post a few pics of the car. Yes its a F13 close ratio box with a 4:3 cwp but I'm on the look out for a 4:5 for that extra bit of zip. Engine has a Robspeed head with 295 duration cams, soild lifters etc, accralite pistons, weber 45's on bowyer inlet manifold, arp through out, light flywheel and dte management, should get about 170 or a bit more.

For the anoraks amongst us would that be the Russell Roberts car featured in Kit Car and Specials years ago -- still have the mag somewhere -- often wondered what happened to it.

Yes thats the very car, It was own about 2yrs ago by Brian Dennis ( Dennis Motorsport, Hay on Wye ) who still competes in minis and must be 70 years old or very close to and is still picking up class awards in rallying and hillclimbs !!!! I was told he sold the car on and will give him a ring to find out its where abouts. Russell was interesed in buying the car back a few years back but Brian said he wouldn't sell it and intended fitting a blackbird motor in it for hill climbs but must have given up on it, he as 2 exworks minis including a 8 porter, and a more modern mini with a med 16v head, will up date if I can on the old coupe

Well small world isn't it. My brother owned the Russell Roberts coupe for a while and used it for tarmac stage rallying before he sold it to Brian Dennis. It was fun car, I co-drive for my brother on a couple of rallies on the Epynt ranges near Brecon. Its nice to know the car is still around and starting a new chapter.
