The fuel cap would appear to be allowing fuel to escape when going round left handers, even when the tank is no where near full.

First thought there maybe a problem when I fitted the soft top and filled up the tank then went for a blast, really bad smell of fuel coming in, I did over fill so thought it was that.

However I went to fill up over the weekend and found that fuel had leaked out and was sitting in the recess of where the cap fits, so suspect that the seal is not doing it's job. Is this a common thing with metro's and therefore the Rossa? Is it just a case of finding a new seal or replacing the cap (colour coded so a bit of a sod).

Anyone else had a similar issue? if so what was your solution. (with the cost of fuel, throwing it out the tank isn't the best thing I can be doing)

I had that when I first got mine - needed a replacement tank <groan> due to rust round the 'join' of the tank - also some of the hoses were a bit grotty.

Malcolm it's not from the tank but from the top of the filler neck by the looks of it. When I removed the cap there was a small puddle of liquid in the recess where the cap fits and when I tasted ( ) it it was petrol. Think I will try to get a new or thicker cap seal and see how that works. Just wondered really if it was a common issue or not.
