I saw that. Its a nice colour and I do like the GTO headlights. Needs a side window glass and door locks and not clear why its a non-runner other than fuel pump not pumping so a bit of a risk but as long as the price doesn't get too silly then it would be worth a punt for a factory built V6

Well cards on the table, I'm bidding on this car as I think it can be made into a nice car & hopefully a keeper, the engine issue does not bother me as it has to be fixable.

However Jill the current owner went onto Facebook & asked the collective about the passenger window as it has been broken, she was advised it was from a 1988 Fiesta which although is likely to be troublesome should be available from 'somebody'

However she has since received a message advising "I have a GTM Libra and the side glass is bespoke to the Libra and definitely not from a Ford Fiesta.' They also went on to provide a link to https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/ ... ild-manual [@Mods no idea if that is an allowed link please delete if it infringes copyright] referring to section 3.1 which states "The door glass is a special glass provided in the kit"

Which sounds like it could be very expensive or is it supplied with the kit as it would not have been included in the Metro donor car, if that was the route somebody took?

Upshot is that the car has to be saved, those of you running Libra's what would you do if the side window was smashed apart from claim on the insurance where would you obtain one from?

The glass was definitely not bespoke. As I said on the thread I remembered it as Mk3 escort but is Mk3 Fiesta. Not sure if there is a difference between 3 & 5 door.

I will try and find my original build manual and post a picture.

Just looked in my RDM era build manual and it lists the glass as supplied with the kit. Perhaps someone with an older (pre RDM) manual can have a look at the donor parts list to confirm.

Fiesta 3 door, green tint.

Makes sense not being bespoke, after all GTM chose the Cinquecento for a windscreen.
Why wouldn't they chose some other car for the side glass.....just need to confirm what they are from.
GTM seem to have supplied everything that wasn't sourced from the Metro donor to save people running around scrapyards.
It was an upmarket kit after all.

Oh and the non starting issue sounds like it could be an immobilizer issue or maybe even an earthing problem.

Thank you Roger, makes the gamble with it's unknown engine slightly less daunting, as a bespoke window could be ££££'s But I find the decision to do that would have been a strange one.

Zagato, that is my feeling as well, it goes against the ethos of British kit car industry for anything other than body panels, as to engine I was leaning towards immobiliser/fob issue myself, or possibly failed fuel pump

Door window is deffo from a 3 door Fiesta, has a slight green tint.

Still have the label off mine that came with kit from back in 2000.

Fuel pump could be immobiliser, fuse, relay, rusted contacts on pump wiring or pump itself. Not too hard to fault find.

If you win it & the rear hinge is broken I can supply stainless hinge sets for front and rear.

If i was bidding on it i would want to look at it first to see how well the respray has been done because it was very light grey gel coat when it was built there are several pictures of it when is was grey on madabout kit cars website there is a lot of over spray around the engine on picture on the advert

Yes it Was Grahams car originally in BT grey. I had seen the overspray but not realised it was that car. It has had several number plates but appears to be back on the original now.

Not me, although I was winning up until the last 4 minutes, it's just increased the price of everybodies car by my reckoning

Somebody wanted that car a lot.
I would have paid 5k if I didn't already have a Libra but 6.5k for a non runner needing work is pretty strong even if it is a V6!
