It is a lot, but there were 2 who wanted it, so hopefully for Jill the owner one follows through with the sale, we once had something similar in the buggy group I used to have. Most were selling £3k, a really good one maybe a little more, but somebody put one up for sale nothing particularly special about it went for £5.3k, 2 bidders just went to war over it. There are not many Libra's out there, so if somebody has been waiting & has the cash to splash

I thought £4k was about right for what has been identified as wrong but the prices must be going up on these cars like you said as I'm way off. I don't think i could have risked spending more without seeing it close up though.
Going by the values mine must be worth well in excess of £15k now then

I agree. I thought 4k was about right with it being worth about 8k if it was spot on.

Yours is worth at least 20k!

I added up the receipts last year and I’ve spent around £30k since owning it
Also includes the purchase price

You can never tell with eBay but I have a running V6 and thought the value to be about £6.5K so that was good money for a non runner. To be fair i think the cars are under valued in comparison to Tiger and locost et al

I would expect a good k series Libra to make 7k these days.
A V6 should have a premium of at least 1k?
If an Elise starts at around 10k that would appear to be the ceiling for Libras because people will prefer to buy a Lotus at that price....

Alan asked my right at the start if I had any idea of value my answer was that Complete Kit Car did an article back in 2018 and their view, based on GTMOC input was
£4500 entry point car in need of love
£6500 - £8000 gets a well sorted car
VTEC and V6 add a premium
over £10000 for the very best.... did the V6 at Stoneleigh in 2018 go for around the £9K?

So I guess the sorted price is as expected, but for whatever reason the 'in need of love' price ceiling was broken on this occasion.
As always, the car is only worth what someone is willing to pay and the seller willing to accept.

For example - My old Spyder was bought from the builder in 2015, put up for sale for £9500 with a dealer in Knaresborough. I bought it for considerably less and apparently less than Spyder9 sold it for! Later I sold it to Westfield for what I paid and they recently sold it to a new member for £1.5/2k less than they bought it for.
So as I say they are only worth what each party is willing to accept at the time, but for me they are worth every penny and its been a great day out driving in the Libra today!

eBay can work well but there are a lot of time wasters on there too.
A happy end of sorts......

Good news for the seller, she was very friendly on email so pleased for her, less so for me!

I'm surprised I was the only potential buyer to view ahead of the sale though. The potential for issues with something that's been sat for a while shouldn't be underestimated.

Oh, and first post - hi!

I would have loved to have viewed ahead of the end, but with a 400 mile round trip the only option really was to bid with the reservation of what could need doing, with the intention of only making the trip once. But even so I could not have outbid the winner even if I had wanted to.

Colin, I was an interested party, not the buyer unfortunately. Still keen to get a Libra at some point.

Phaeton, I think the bid you put in was in the right ball park for a sight unseen offer, but 6.5k seems strong without seeing it (and to be honest strong having seen it!). I had a 370 mile round trip to see it, but my wife came along so we made a bit of a day trip out of the drive.
