Post subject:  Hazards not working properly with LED bulbs?

I've fitted LED indicator bulbs to my Libra along with a LED relay unit and the indicators work perfectly. However, the hazards arn't quite right - the rears seem to be flashing correctly but the fronts and sides are blinking but not fully going out if that makes sense? The warning light is also blinking but not going out fully?

I've put the old bulbs and relay back in and everything works spot on (indicators and hazards) so I'm pretty sure the wiring is ok?

The hazard and flasher relay is the same unit on the metro fuse box whereas on a lot of cars there is a relay for both - do I need a different relay? I see you can get an adjustable LED flasher relay and was wondering if this would sort it - has anyone else had this issue?

Cheers, Jamie

I have a similar problem to this fitted all led indicators.
All indicators worked at same time regardless of the direction selected I have stopped this by pulling one of the wires off the dash indicator bulb which was not working correctly.
The hazards however only come on dim and do not flash.
Any suggestions.

Car Builder Solutions sell an electronic (universal) flasher unit which is suitable for both LED's and filament bulbs. It may be worth giving that a try and if it doesn't work you will have a second relay to use specifically with the hazard switch.

Mu UVA has LED bulbs all round and I wired separate flasher units for indicators and hazards. It works fine.

Probably not of much use but have a search on one of the mini forums, I think there is a donor car where an electronic flasher is pinched from for situations like this.

I have a electronic relay fitted and the lights work perfectly if I remove the bulb from the hazard switch and disconnect the dash warning light so it must be back feeding somehow.

Get a Lucas 19FL out of a car at the scrap yard and do the following to it.

Bit of a update have fitted two diodes into the feeds to the dash indicator bulb and earthed the other side the indicators now work and treat.
The hazards are a different story though it I leave the filament lamp in the hazard switch the tail lights only go dim then bright the rest work fine with this lamp removed all is well.
Do I have to have this light so I know the hazards are on ?
