What size (gauge) cable is everyone using for the alternator return supply to battery (i.e. charging circuit)??

 Re: Charging system
These are the recommendations on the Vehicle Wiring Products website
Ref 33 . 44/0.30mm, 3mm2, 33amp. Typical applications. Charging cable for battery feed and ammeter. Ref 39. 56/0.30mm, 4mm2, 39amp. Typical applications. Charging cable for dynamo, alternator and ammeter circuits. Ref 50. 84/0.30mm, 6mm2, 50amp. Typical applications. Charging cable for dynamo, alternator and ammeter circuits. Ref 57. 97/0.30mm, 7mm2, 57amp. Typical applications. Charging cable for heavy duty alternator and ammeter circuits.
Ref 63. 120/0.30mm, 8.5mm2, 63amp. Typical applications. Charging cable for heavy duty alternator and ammeter circuits. Ref 70. 80/0.40mm, 10mm2, 70amp. Typical applications. Charging cable for heavy duty alternator and ammeter circuits.

 Re: Charging system
Yeah I saw that but with most engines and batterys being located in the front and at a short distance from one another I was wondering if the cable needed to be larger and by how much, I take it that most A series engines had a 45amp alternator so does that mean I need a cable able to cope with this amount of the said distance between alternator and battery allowing for losses?

 Re: Charging system
I'm going to be running a 55 amp alternator and will be using 16mm2 cable. The bigger the bigger the cable, the less the voltage drop. I'm also going to be fitting an anderson plug in the engine bay, to be able to jump start, without the voltage drop.

 Re: Charging system
The engine in the rear won't make any difference for the normal wiring but as with all cars with the battery at the opposite end of the car to the engine don't skimp on the battery and earthing cables as that will cause problems when things get cold.
