Post subject:  MEMS 3.0 Remaps

Anyone got any experience of remapping the standard MEMS 3.0 ecu? People like K-Maps are claiming an extra 10bhp + better economy etc from their remap of the stock ecu plus the opportunity to delete the 5AS at the same time. Allows the rev limiter to be pushed up a bit too. If it meets their promises it seems good value in terms of £ per BHP.

I'm currently on a MEMS 2.0 143 but when I eventually get around to swapping in the 160 I have waiting I can also go for this remap.

Hi Dave,

I’ve had these guys re-map my ecu but couldn’t give any comparisons to beforehand unfortunately. What I do know is that these guys have a really good reputation amongst MG and Lotus enthusiasts so that’s why I went with them. Dave Andrews of DVA power rates them as well.

They altered the idle characteristics on mine slightly as I have a lightened flywheel, the Rev limit is reset to 7400rpm also.

Can they ( K- Maps or anyone else ) delete the need for a code from the immobiliser? Any idea of cost for remapping?

I believe it is about £250 on an exchange basis, they quote a two day turnaround from receipt of your ECU. I have a few things to sort out first (waiting to pay for some rear Protech’s), then mine will be going off for exchange.

I’ve been thinking about the kmaps upgrade for a while. One came up on ebay so after a bit of haggling I went for it. It is the mems3 vvc version labelled as a ZR170 . It has the 5AS delete, rev limiter raised to 7500 and the “pop and crackle” option. Was bought this Feb and has the new logo sticker. I thought having a spare standard ecu might be a good idea so buying a ready mapped one fitted the bill. I might drive the 160 for a bit before swapping it in so I can get a better feel for the upgrade and I’ll report back

Be interested in your thoughts on that Dave, I've heard plenty of good things about them so hope it was a good choice.
