Post subject:  Libra rear spoilers....bob?

I've been thinking about adding a rear spoiler to the Libra, but only if it makes a difference. I want it to feel more planted at high speed. The only one I've liked to date is Bob snooks (I think it's bobs), so to bob, did it make any noticeable difference?

And to anyone else, any reccomendations?

Definitely don't want it to look like ive covered it in glue and driven through halfords. Subtle but functional is what I'm after!

Thanks

Ryan :)

Think the ones most people fit on libras are from honda preludes.I have one fitted to my car did not drive it much before I fitted it so can not tell you how it compares,I looked on e bay for a secondhand one I liked.I would suggest that you must have a front splitter fitted if you are going to have a spoiler on the back.

Sorry I haven't replied before, been having computer problems.

Yes it is indeed from a Honda Prelude 1992 and comes with or without a brake light.
The legs need to be modify'ed to bolt to the boot lid, I'll go into more detail if you decide to go ahead.

It definitely works so you will need to sort out a splitter first otherwise it just makes the front lighter.
You can buy winglets of e-bay or make a full width one yourself, otherwise Talon Sports Cars can make one for you, they all work.

Having said all that, I think knowing how it affected the car after putting on a front splitter I wouldn't fit it again, ie; what you gain with the splitter you lose with the spolier, and end up with the same handling.

To feel more planted, I would look at your tyre pressure's and your tracking.

A front splitter is a must and the spolier sure does look good :D

Thanks for replying Bob, as it was purely just for function (although yours does look good too), I think I'll just get the splitter and leave the rear alone.

Hi Paul

I think you’re making a great job of restoring your Libra.

Spoiler, see photos of mine. I extended the width of the legs by getting 4 L shaped brackets (2 each side), welding a nut to the brackets and screwing them to the inside of the leg. I then covered them with body filler until I had the right shape and bolted to the boot lid using the retained nut. Or, you could do what another member did, and just make a flat bracket screwed to the underside of the leg and bolted to the boot lid.

Hi
no, it did not come with a brake light its one from eBay I made a bracket for the brake light I then bonded the bracket to the bottom of the wing with fiberglass, and fixed the LED brake light to the bracket
