Spyder fuel tank size
Just acquired a spyder and just wondered what size is the fuel tank. I was warned that the fuel gauge is inaccurate. Also wondered on the mpg figures foe 160 vvc engine. Thanks

Re: Spyder fuel tank size
Thanks, thought it was about that. The previous owner said he only ever needed £25 worth to fill it. If that was the case very small tank or never run it to empty. Will carry a can and run it right down and see what range I get

Re: Spyder fuel tank size
Seems like it depends on the donor car that was used? I got "35 litres" from a 2008 GTM flyer from the Potenza days. My Spyder is registered in 2003, so might also have a 30 litre tank... T

Re: Spyder fuel tank size
If you type this web address into your browser you'll get my Fuelly mpg figures for my 1.8 vvc Libra. You'll see that they vary from 32 mpg to 47 mpg ( depending what mood i'm in ) http://www.fuelly.com/driver/sven9/gtm-libraFor anyone who's not seen Fuelly, its a good little app for recording mpg. I did try to hyperlink it in my signature below, but this forum won't let me - so you'll need to 'cut & paste' it.

That would be when they started supplying aluminium tanks. My wife used to get 32 mpg going to work and we got 40-45 mpg on long runs. Bob.

Re: Spyder fuel tank size
Talking about fuel tanks...
Resently discovered a serious leak in my tank - got a big puddle when filling the tank. Could be one of the small pipes close to the inlet (it is not connected to anything, and just bent over to close it), or a leak from the tank itself.
Does everything need to come down before taking the tank down? (Cooling pipes, gear rods.) Any tip?
Terje

Re: Spyder fuel tank size
Hi Terje, I thought a fuel puddle is standard when filling a Spyder/Libra From memory one of the pipes should be a breather pipe? Juls
