Post Libra rear side windows
Why does the Libra have what appears to be an air scoop moulding in the rear side windows? I’ve never seen one that has had this opened up to become functional. Is it just a styling thing? I think it may look better with flat Perspex instead.

My Yellow Libra has flat side windows.

I think it was an optional thing.

The factory supplied them molded like a duct. A few people over the years did open them up but in my eyes it didn't look that good.

I think some people have replaced them with flat polycarbonate as they haven't been available for years.

The ones I've seen (pictures only not in the flesh) seem to be the wrong way round, i.e. convex not concave ??

Sort-of an inverted NACA duct shape.

The more I look at it, the more odd it appears. Of to eBay to order some acrylic sheet...

I'd go for polycarbonate over acrylic. Less prone to yellowing with age and easier to work with. Also more impact resistant. Hardly anything in it cost wise for a small piece. Often the post is more than the polycarb itself so if you can find somewhere local it might be better and some places will cut it to your template for a very reasonable extra.

I found this place good for mail order polycarbonate. 3mm will probably be sufficient for those libra side bits. If you go for the UV resistant stuff it'll never yellow.
