My Libra will need new rear tyres before its (eventual) MOT as the Goodyears it currently sports are cracking between the tread blocks.

Any recommendations for a good tyre?

I'll probably end up replacing both fronts and rears and I'm running 16" rims - 195/45 fronts, 215/40 rear.

Are the Toyo T1-R or Yokohama S-drive any good?

T1 r have always been a popular choice as they are quite soft compound with a softer tyre wall, suited to a light car. Tend to be good value too.

In terms of sizes 195/45/16 front 215/40 rear was the final factory spec I think.

I did manage to squeeze 225/45/16 on the rear of mine. I see they are now Extra Load so I recon probably best avoided.

I wanted some 888's but couldn't get them in the right sizes (mine was on 205/45/16 all round). I went with Yokohama AD08R (from Camskill) and so far I've found them to be excellent on both road and track. IMHO A really good all round tyre that even works okay in the wet.

Agree with what has already been said. I am running T1R's all round in your sizes. Good tyres in the wet and dry unless you are very enthusiastic. Problem is getting them warmed up with a light car.

I ended up with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (205/45R16) on my Spyder. OK grip in the wet due, but suspect it would be worse with more extreme tires. :)
Quite sathisfied with grip and cornering, but have not been able to do track yet and don't know how they will be when pushed hard. ZCars suspension also helps!

Another vote for toyo t1r's did run some falkens but not really impressed with them.
Then in winter I run 15" mgf alloys with toyo snowprox winter tyres which give alot better grip in the cold and frosty weather.

Thanks for the replies chaps,

Looks like the Toyo's would be a good choice and I can get a full set fitted for £235 - thats cheap in my book :D

Do like the look of the Yokohama's as well but can't find them in my sizes?

Completely off topic but, Mr Larkingabout, I believe this is your car spotted in northern France the other weekend?

Was really surprised when I checked what I could get Toyo T1Rs for the other day, absolute peanuts

I have always had P Zeros on a lot of my cars and have been very pleased with them on my Libra
Sizes 205 40 17s front and 205 40 17s rear bit pricey but I always think you get what you pay for
with tyres.

You are absolutely correct that's us with the SKCC crew. A great weekend if you enjoy honing around in France for the weekend. A great picture of my back too!

You do get what you pay for with tyres to a degree but I wouldn't look elsewhere considering I can get T1Rs for like 50 quid each, bargain. Had them before, grippy and progressive. Felt great on my old libra so long as the pressures were kept on top of.

I have the Toyos all round @ 205/45/16, seem ok for general road use.

What pressures do folks run on the Toyos?
