gearchange cables
Just snapped a second front rear movement gearshift cable other than buying another mgf cable has anyone used a different cable or had one made up. If so where did they come from and what what the specification. Thanks Matty

Re: gearchange cables
Wow - how many shredded wheat do you have for breakfast?
I've broken the ball off the bellcrank at the gearbox end but my second hand MGF cables seem indestructible (touching wood!!)
Is there maybe a problem with the gearbox if you are having to use lots of force? I know mine sometimes needs a shove to get reverse (which is when I broke the bellcrank) but I also know that is the gearbox, not the cable mechanism.

Re: gearchange cables
The ones I've fitted to mine came from Cabletec. Not sure on actual spec but would imagine that they can advise on push pull gear cables.
As an aside I bought my previous V6 with a broken fore/aft shift cable. I replaced it like for like (I matched a MGTF one from Leacy Classics in Brum). I think the underlying issue was the clutch setup which made changing gear once everything was up to temperature a difficult task. After I sorted the shonky MGZS sourced clutch slave & bracket it was all good.
If all is well the gear change shouldn't be heavy at all - probably also worth making sure nothing is running out of travel.
Cheers,
Stew.
