The other thing that could come into play is the fuel pump pressure. a 1.1 metro would have had a lower pressure fuel pump, insufficient to feed the injectors on a VVC. Easy enough to upgrade whilst the tank is out but not so easy when its all together.

I run a 1.8 143 VVC with a std Rover Metro tank & pump, never had a problem with fuel pressure. Though I did swap from a 1.4mpi.

Got a metro GTI tank and pump in recommended by Dudley so it should be OK.

It's the PG1 box so should be ok??

Changed out the cam sensor and it made no difference. Removed the crank sensor (with great difficulty!!) only to find I have ordered a different type :?

By the looks of it the long pin actually sits within the flywheel. There are no identifying codes on the old sensor(s).

Is there a list of MEMS versions > crank sensor codes > Fly wheel codes available somewhere so I can make absolutely sure I have compatible parts?

I imagine the crank sensor, just because it looks the same, could now be the wrong type also

Looking at some MGF and Metro forums it seems that the flywheels for 1.8/PG1's should all have the same reluctor pattern regardless of Mems version. All became 36/4 pattern whereas some 1.4's with R65 had 36/2. Looks like the long pin CPS is the one to go for but there are still 5 versions of the long pin listed on Rimmers so not sure which one!!!

The 36/2 patterns seem to have been only for the smaller flywheels that fit into R65's but there are 36/4 versions of the smaller flywheel too.

But, if you have the PG1 then it seems all the patterns are the same so you shouldn't be able to go wrong. I can't verify this though, only that the R65 ones do need care!
