Having just ‘discovered’ Libras & Spyders, and what a good car they are, I’m curious to know why Westfield bought GTM and after what appears to be not a great deal of effort, gave up and finished them off. The number of Libras and Spyders made and the fact that Westfield paid for GTM suggests that there must have been potential for it to thrive.

It's clear they bought GTM at what must have been a cheap price and/or to deny someone else from buying it whom they didn't want to have it.

They didn't do it to continue production or support current customers with parts etc. that's for sure.

I think this is how things happened.

RDM bought GTM and continued production.

Potenza bought Westfield

Potenza bought GTM and put it under the Westfield banner. They then got a government grant to develop it as an EV

Westfield never produced any kits, but did offer spares inc bodywork for a while.

Westfield said the monocoque was too expensive to make and Metro running gear out of date. There was a plan to re engineer to use a spaceframe and modern components.

Expected cost of a factory built car to be £35k plus. It was deemed that there was no market for a £35k Coupe kit car. The End.

Since then they have tried to turn one into a plane, a hybrid and fit a wankle.
