I've been getting tired of things moving around in the boot knocking the bulb holders out of the back of the light units which makes them hard for following drivers to see. Also loading and unloading things always getting caught up. I bought some LED units with flat backs so only the wires protruding. I finally got around to fitting them today.
Before and after inside the boot:

From the outside - left old, right new. I went for clear stop tails that light up red

How they look lit up - just tail on the red one but they go as bright as the orange one when in brake mode:

Hi Dave,
I've been thinking of changing them for a while.
Where did you source them from? Did you need to fettle any fibreglass?
Cheers

That looks great! I do think that the Spyder's rear end is very nicely styled.

These are the ones I went for. Best value I could find - under a fiver per light. They are even E marked. When I bought them they had the clear stop/tail ones for £4.99 too but they seem to have sold out. Maybe because I bought so many as I've fitted them to my 7 too!
They weren't a straight fit though. The Perei ones that were previously fitted have a conical tapered back and the grp has obviously been moulded to suit that shape. The LUX/RDX units have a flat back and although it doesn't protrude far behind the mounting face it doesn't taper enough to fit the grp. I found the plastic at the back of the light fitting was thick enough to fettle that instead so a bit of time with a die grinder bit to cut back the plastic to the right angle and in they go. Hardest part is cutting back around the mounting hole insets but, again, there is enough plastic thickness to remove without ruining the new fittings.
