Post Dashboard/interior mods mk2 rossa
im looking at removing the dashboard and instrument panels to replace them with something tidier and lighter has anyone got any pictures or ideas on different options? also are the carpet sets bespoke to the rossa or is it a mini/ metro carpet set?

I'm sticking with the original dash for now and it isn't very heavy - the weight comes from what you fit into it ie radio etc. Carpet sets are bespoke and are available from Alan at Rossabitz, the last price I had for them was £90 a set if I remember correctly.

Sorry, no photo available (car a few miles away in a lock up and I can't manage to post photos ar the moment). My dash (no cubby lid or instruments) 2 3/4 KG, the galvanised metal support was another kilo. New dash, no glove box, came out at about 1 1/2 KG and the metal support was ditched. Acewell multi instrument saved about 3/4 KG but I kept the oil guage.

isnt the metal support under dash required for rigidity? or is it just there to support the dash and steering column etch? in terms of fitting an acewell speedo did you use the hall sensors or knock up your own how much work is involved?

I'm not talking about the bit that takes the steering column. The metalwork I'm taslking about it locates the demister funnels and the front edge of the dash just under the windscreen It is mounted on two bolts that go through to the front tub.

Used the acewell supplied magnet and pick-up supplied, pick-up fitted on a bracket on a front disk brake bolt and the magnet on the driveshaft (what's left when the shaft and cage and balls are removed).

Drilled and tapped an old temperature sender to fit in the suplied (matched to unit) one. Fairly easy fit and worked first time too. Fuel guage not very lineqar but Full Ok and empty OK.
