 What is it?
Have just got a Rossa but not sure what MK it is.Fitted with 1275 MG metro engine with dry suspension. Fuel tank is located behind passenger seat with filler cap just behind passenger door. The bonnet is opened via locking key as is the engine cover. I thought the k3 had the fuel tank behind the passenger seat. The car was built 1992 according to original invoice and fitted with the deluxe kit(electric windows, etc). It took the reg of the donor car and is tax exempt. Hope someone can help.

 Re: What is it?
What does that date of 1992 really relate to? Is it just the date the kit was purchased? or is it the date the build was finished?
Since you mention an invoice I'd bet the kit was manufactured/sold in '92. Bear in mind that kit cars can easily not hit the road for several years after the kit was purchased so if it was "first registered" in 1992 the kit's manufacture date could easily be several years before that.
It's definitely not a K3 if it's got an Austin Metro engine (an A-Series) - the K3 was the updated version of the Rossa and used Rover Metro mechanicals and engines (K-Series engines).
As far as I'm aware the easiest giveaway between a MkI and a MkII Rossa is the front indicators. The MkI didn't have anything specific so tended to get the Mini indicator (roud Lucas or Wipac unit). The MkII has a recess in the mould for the front bumper and uses a facelift MkI Sierra indicator and driving lamp unit.

 Re: What is it?
This might help rossa-help-t1139.html The K3 has a petrol tank behind the seats with external fillers on both sides (I think..)

 Re: What is it?
Thanks for the info. Mine is the mk2 Rossa but it still has the fuel filler cap behind the passenger door and fuel tank behind the passenger seat. Is that correct? Would car have taken the wiring loom from the metro or is it specific to GTM. A wiring diagram would be handy as somebody has been playing with the wiring and though everything seems to work it is a bit of a mess.

 Re: What is it?
The Mk2 should have a Mini fuel tank under the bonnet. I seem to remember somebody moving it to behind the passenger seat with an external filler so maybe it has been modified like that - the one I'm thinking of was a white car.
The wiring loom is specific to GTM but it follows the Metro colour coding. A Haynes manual would be useful because everything's there as per the Metro, just in a different place! I'm not sure what version of Metro electrics your car uses - does it have a relay box and column stalks with illumination inside them or does it have basic Mini style stalks and a big chunky Metro switch panel in the centre of the dash?

 Re: What is it?
I relocated the fuel tank on my Rossa2 to behind the passenger seat to create room in the front compartment for a brake balance bar and twin brake master cylinders. It is a custom-made tank as the Mini tank would not fit with the rollover bar. K-series tank will not fit in a Rossa2. I remenber a white Rossa2 with twin Mini tanks behind passenger and drivers seats owned, I think, by a young chap from Tyneside.

 Re: What is it?
Thanks you guys for the info.Somebody has put the tank behind the seat then. It is a good quality alloy tank so no rust problems. I got a Haynes book on the Metro for the wiring and it is almost the same. Has been very useful. Any ideas on the best parts to use to make up an exhaust system for it. The one from Rossabitz is very expensive. Frogeyeman
